No, I Don't Need To Smile More

For those among you who don't know what catcalling is, let me enlighten you. It has nothing to do with cute kittens, such a shame. It's all about sexually frustrated males trying to get attention from females. In more formal terms it's called street harassment, sounds a bit more serious now. Doesn't it? Street harassment consists of unwanted comments, gestures, honking, following, touching (do I have to keep going?).

Normally I just ignore it, but yesterday a comment from a really nice man pushed me over the edge. So now I have to rant a bit and what better way to rant than on my blog. 😉
-

So for all you ‘catcallers' out there. Here's a list where I answer all your questions and give you some tips:
-

- Never in my entire life was there a moment when I (or any other woman for that matter) thought: "Oh hey, this guy just said I have a nice ass. Let's hop in his car and make babies." Not. Ever.
- You make me feel insecure.
- You don't have the right. I deserve the same amount of respect as any other human being you talk to.
- No, I'm not obligated to say anything to you.
- It makes me want to punch you in the face.
- I know I look good, I don't need you to tell me that.
- No, I don't need to smile more. Me and my death stare are very close.
- You calling me a sexy piece of meat is NOT a compliment.
- If I want to have mediocre sex, I'll certainly give you a call.
-

Don't get me wrong: I like compliments, but in the right context. If you see anyone being harassed in public, please intervene. This behaviour needs to stop.
