Greater Than AIDS wants to bring PrEP into the spotlight, because according to a national survey only about 1 in 10 young adults know about it. PrEP is a daily pill for people who do not have HIV and want added protection. PrEP is short for pre-exposure prophylaxis. When taken as prescribed, PrEP is highly effected in preventing HIV. According to the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, daily PrEP reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by more than 90%! But the pill does not protect against other sexually transmitted diseases, so use condoms as well.
