Free The Nipple is a film directed by Lina Esco -she also plays one of the characters - and is inspired by her campaign, addressing societal taboos about the public exposure of female breasts. #FreeTheNipple became viral when Miley Cyrus, a friend of Esco, tweeted a picture supporting the cause to denounce inequality and censorship in the US.

The movie, which will be released on December 12, is a call for action by calling out to show breasts in public, revealing the incongruities of some of the most important amendments in the US Constitution. In the US topless females are illegal, but topless males are not. For instance, breastfeeding in public is banned in 35 states and in Louisiana showing a female nipple may get you three years in prison, plus a fine of $ 2500. Although being topless in New York City was legalized in 1992 for both sexes, the police continues to arrest women.

Esco said that the film is also about other issues that are censored, such as the management of violence in the entertainment industry and violence against women. Her idea is to highlight the true definition of feminism and what it means for people: equality for all.

"A group of fearless women fight for their right to go topless in public, as they smash societal taboos one bare breast at a time. Based on a true story, this spirited satire follows New York City activists Liv and With, who take their crusade for gender equality from the streets of the urban jungle to the courts. More than just a movie, ‘Free the Nipple’ has launched an empowering real-life movement, inspiring women across the globe to take back their bodies."
