Specific team tasks will include (but are not limited to): finding raw materials (T-shirts, other clothes, accessories, etc);  creating a fashion concept that reflects the safe sex theme as applied to young fashion; reflecting beauty and pop culture in the designs; creating unique clothing pieces by hand; scouting for models and a volunteer glam team; organizing an event to show the clothing created; if possible, auctioning off the clothing to the highest bidder(s), blogging about the experience; publishing the film via social networking sites; finding ways to promote and publish the results of the workshop via other DAA actions and creating local and international press attention (press release) during and after the workshops. About DAA:

The non-profit organization ‘Beauty Without Irony’ has launched the international project ‘Designers Against AIDS’ (DAA) in 2004 in order to raise AIDS awareness in the international media and towards the general public, more specifically towards young people in the industrialized countries using elements from pop culture (music, fashion, design, arts, sports, film, celebrities, the internet, etc). The main objective of Designers against AIDS is to raise awareness and to get the subject of HIV/AIDS back into the media all over the world. Our messages are: 'Prevention is the only cure for HIV/AIDS' (protect yourself and your partner) and 'Know your status’ (get tested).

About IHAEC:

Part of DAA is the International HIV/AIDS Awareness Education Center located in Deurne.  IHEAC invites local and international students to participate in 4 to 6 week workshops as well as fundamental training in safe sex communication, creative workshops in media and social networking for the cause and selected personal projects. Tasks vary, from administration to creative thinking, assist in creating campaigns and joining us on the field (festivals,..)  The volunteers will learn how to manage projects, do both inbound and outbound communication and put creative ideas into concrete, measurable goals.
