So this time we’re going to take a quick peak at the whereabouts of two of our beloved DAA friends, the R&B singers Akon and Keri Hilson.

These awesome artists became friends of DAA back in 2011, when they both modelled for our Fashion Against Aids collection. That year the line was unisex, a point that Keri also found significant by commenting “I love what it represents – AIDS knows no gender and the fact is that the clothing caters for men, women, boys and girls”.

They also worked together for the song “Change Me” for Keri’s album In a Perfect World and for the charity single “Oh Africa”, with all the proceeds going towards benefiting underprivileged African youth. Akon also has his own charity called Konfident Foundation, which is dedicated to empowering youth and supporting impoverished families in Senegal, West Africa and US.

Akon, who came back into the music scene in 2003 with “Locked Up” (which I love) is due to release his fourth album Stadium at some point this year. So far, he’s given us a piece of the cake with the release of the music video for his latest single “So Blue”, a song with a catchy hook and chorus in which he plays a hero who saves the day and gets the girl.

Some of the latest news from him have been his crazy night in Abu Dhabi where he was having fun spraying eye-wateringly expensive champagne all over the place and crowd surfing, his controversial statements in favour of polygamy and his next plans include a concert with Big Sean in the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana next week.

I personally always liked Akon’s songs and collaborations and I think he has a very unique and smooth vocal range so when I see his name on a track I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a cool song!

Same happens with the drop-dead gorgeous Keri Hilson. Some time ago she revealed that she started working on her third studio album but the release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, she made her first acting debut for the romantic comedy film Think Like a Man and also appeared alongside Vin Diesel in the sci-fiction film Riddick, which has been released in UK and US last September.

Keri is also a very active philanthropist and has got involved in supporting victims from the Haiti earthquake, education, women empowerment, LGBT rights, childhood obesity and is an ambassador for MTV Staying Alive foundation that – like us –raises awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Anyhow, I really hope to hear some more of Keri’s music as her second album No Boys Allowed was awesome! By the way, she is also very active on Twitter @KeriHilson  so if you like her music as much as I do and would like to support her, follow her up for more news!

Best of luck for both of them!
