How is Spain Protecting Itself?

HIV infection rates are relatively stable in Spain, but it still does mean around 3000 new cases each year, mostly due to the fact that people don't realize they are infected until it's too late, infecting others in the meanwhile. 80% of those infections are linked to sexual activities, with 80% of those being people between age of 30-35. Gay men are the most at risk.

Although there are some improvements with certain groups (immigrants,  the percentage of people undergoing regular treatment), there's still work to be done in prevention, especially in reminding people to get tested regularly. Taking the HIV test is as simple as our "safety card" shows and best of all: it's easy, simple and painless.
