From now on DAA has officially partnered with 'Deutsche AIDS Hilfe' (German AIDS Aid), which is the oldest organization in Germany dealing with the HIV/AIDS issue. It was founded in September in 1983 in Berlin, without any money by volunteers with regular day jobs. Most of the volunteers were gay and either struggling for survival or experiencing the situation of friends who were HIV positive or developed full-blown AIDS and died. As you know it was a very hard time for those communities in the early eighties, also because of the huge stigma around the disease. Luckily - and thanks to organizations such as Deutsche AIDS Hilfe- time has changed since then, so that it's now more socially accepted to talk about HIV/AIDS.
