As it comes to movies, cinema and television, you can always count on us for some very juicy updates. For instance, already a year ago, our former intern and team member Elias wrote about the project for a transposition into a movie of Larry Kramer's famous play ‘The Normal Heart'. Meanwhile, this project became an HBO production for a movie by cult director Ryan Murphy (Popular, Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story and The New Normal) and was aired last Sunday evening on the American TV channel. It's no surprise that this project has become so important: we are talking about a part of history that really contributed in changing people's perspective on HIV/AIDS. The movie stars some very big names such as Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Jim Parsons, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch and Jonathan Groff.

Kramer's play was actually one of the first pieces of art ever made that dealt with the issue of the HIV epidemic. It was a time when US President Ronald Reagan would nominatePat Buchanan as director of communicatio , a man who stated stuff like "The poor homosexuals. They have declared war against nature and nature is exacting an awful retribution." You can easily imagine how poorly this piece was initially understood, nonetheless Kramer's work became a milestone in both the worlds of theatre and activism, earning all the success that it's worth by receiving 5 Tony Award nominations in 2011.
