AmfAR, the foundation for AIDS research, is honouring Tom Ford with its Award of Inspiration at its fifth annual Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles in October. Chosen for his contributions to menswear design and his commitment to combating the AIDS crisis, Ford will be recognised at the black-tie gala at Milk, Los Angeles on October 29. This is the latest honour to be bestowed on Ford, last month the fashion designer was presented with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award at the CFDA Awards.

The Inspiration Series was launched in 2010 to celebrate men’s fashion and style while raising funds for AmfAR’s lifesaving AIDS research programs. Since its inception, Inspiration galas have been held in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Miam and to date has raised more than 13 million dollars to benefit AmfAR.
