In a small town.... sounds like the beginning of a fairytale, right? Well, here in our small town, called Ruma, HIV makes it less of a fairytale. The agegroup 20 – 29 year olds are the most critical group for HIV infections. So to make it a better place and get the numbers down and the knowledge up, a project was started called 'Be responsible.' This project uses open discussions, simulations, role-play and to teach these youngsters about safe sex and HIV. It was tested with  200 students varying from the 15 to 18 year olds. The idea was to develope sensitivity towards other young people experiencing adolescent crisis and training this group of students for adequate actions taken in a timely manner. Young people were trained so that they can conduct peer-led education in their schools in the future. This led to rising their awereness about prevention actions since young people are the only ones that can have direct influence on fighting against this contemporary problem, especially in small towns where these themes and discussions are taboos.
