Check In To Safe Sex

Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (PPGNW) came up with an original idea to promote safe sex among youngsters. They created more than 50.000 condoms that have QR codes on the wrappers.  The goal is that people who are going to have safe sex with these condoms check in by using the QR code. When checked in you can fill in some information about your location, like: ‘ In the kitchen’, you can also say how your sexual encounter was or you can even be more specific and write down some extra information about your safe sex experience. Off course everything is done anonymously.  It’s a bit like foursquare for people who are pro-safe sex.

On the site http://www.wheredidyouwearit.com/ you can find every check in. According to the map, the condoms have already traveled to 6 continents. I’m curious to see where these condoms will be used, maybe one will even end up in Belgium

Nathan Engebretson, PPGNW’s media coordinator says this is not just another social media stunt. The point of PPGNW is to get people talking about safe sex, and to normalize and celebrate condom use. And we at DAA can only support this!
