We all expected this to happen: the HIV virus is becoming resistant to the antiretroviral drugs.

Antiretroviral drugs are medicines for the treatment of infection by retroviruses, primarily HIV. These medicines were created to keep the virus under control so people who are infected with HIV can enjoy a longer and better life. The cocktail of virus inhibitors should prevent the virus from growing and from attacking the body and the immune system. Antiretroviral therapy has a huge number of serious side effects, but this therapy was thought to be effective.

Unfortunately, the tide is turning. At this moment 15% of the new HIV infections in the US seem to be resistant to the antiretroviral therapy already and a new research model predicts that soon this may run up to a shocking 60%! Of course this will not only be happening in the US, but all over the world.

Our advice: prevention is still the best "cure", so wrap it up, before you f*ck it up.
