Kiev is known for the numerous attacks against Lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders and that’s the reason why LGBT-activists and other participants want to walk the Pride March in Kiev tomorrow (June 6th).
Yesterday the organisers of the Pride and a delegation of Amnesty International asked the police for protection during the gathering. Unfortunately the police can’t guarantee their protection. This also happened in 2012 and 2014 and because of this the Pride March was cancelled because it would be too dangerous without police protection.
Today Amnesty International asked the Minister of Interior of Ukraine to protect the people who will take part in the Pride. Why can every other protest march get the necessary protection, but not this one? It’s time that the government in Kiev takes its responsibility and starts protecting the people of the Pride -who are Ukrainians too!- tomorrow.
