If the path of your life will ever lead you to the lovely town of Sandy Springs (Georgia, US), please keep in mind to bring a dildo with you. You never know if sooner or later you'll need it but, trust me, you don't want to go shopping for sex toys there. A local ordinance prohibits the selling of "any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs" and prohibits their sale, unless "a bona fide medical, scientific, educational, legislative, judicial, or law enforcement purpose" exists.

Sorry, I got lost, what does all of this mean?

In other words, in the pleasant town of Sandy Springs you need a medical prescription to go to a sex shop and buy any kind of sex toys: your doctor has to prescribe it for your health, but how many doctors will actually be prescribing sex toys in a town where these kinds of ordinances are promulgated and put into practice?

Obviously many have already protested against the ‘unusual' measure, sex-shop owners as well as a local artist who uses dildo for his works and who now can't buy the material he needs -nor sell his artworks.

What has put Sandy Springs in the spotlight lately was the legal action taken by Melissa Davenport who sued the city because she can't buy sex toys in order to save her 24-years-long marriage. She suffers from multiple sclerosis and therefore the nervous terminations in her intimate regions are now damaged. As a consequence she needs further stimulation with tools other than that of her husband. Sadly enough, those doctors she's already visited didn't prescribe or even suggest the use of sex toys, even thought they could be helpful in her situation.

We really hope this tragi-comedy will end soon, the personal life or real people is being badly affected by a policy that is aimed at controlling Sandy Springers even in the intimacy of their own bedrooms. That really seems incomprehensible, but it's real life and we should focus more on those situations, putting light where conservative ideology drifts into a dull limitation of free will.
