Last week we posted about the proposed bill to ban NGO's that support and help homosexuals in Uganda - continuing in this battle against homophobia and intolerance, we would like to talk about the It Gets Better project and some of its new initatives today. The It Gets Better project is a global movement that was created to show LGBT teenagers the levels of happiness, potential and positivity their lives will reach - if they can just get through their teen years. This was done in response to a number of teenagers taking their own lives after being bullied in school.

Growing up isn't easy, we can all attest to that, lots of teenagers face daily tormenting and bullying for any number of reasons and being gay has been and still is often a reason to be targeted. For the victims, lot of them feel like there is no where to turn to or anyone to speak to about this anguish. That is why this project tries to link them with openly gay adults and mentors for support through the beginning of their journey.

If you want to help, they are in the final phase of casting the second "It Gets Better" special, set to air this autumn on MTV (america), and they are looking for people who are open to sharing their stories on-camera.

If you or someone you know would like to share your experiences of growing up LGBT, please follow the link below to read the casting notice:

Next week, the It Gets Better message will continue to reach youth worldwide when the special airs on MTV networks internationally -- Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Korea, Canada, the United Kingdom, as well as on MTV Latin America and MTV Asia.
