The premiere of the second season of Channel 4's series Utopia was this summer. If you like reading comics or thrillers and haven't seen it yet, I recommend this series to you. Its mysterious plot, its visual treatment and its music are all wonderful. The first season is more acclaimed than the second part, the audience is divided in their opinions, some people would prefer that the series end at with the first season. In my humble opinion, I'm glad that it continues. Why am I speaking about Utopia, you may ask? It's not my intention to promote conspiracy theories, but the news of the first infection with the Ebola virus outside Africa that has been taking place in Madrid earlier this week has made me think about Utopia. I can't understand how people don't carry out security measures as correctly as possible if this means it's possible to prevent infections. Who is to blame? Instances who don't put enough resources into place to enable their health workers to work safely, of course. At this point the question is' Why?' The answer can't be based on savings and the economic crisis; skimping on health care can't be an excuse. For the same reason, you should consider in depth your own decisions regarding your personal health: if you don't want feel sorry for yourself in the future, please think that enjoying the moment has to go hand in hand with practicing safe sex, to give one example. On a side note, one of the doctors who first detected the Ebola virus back in the 1970's was Professor Baron Peter Piot (now Director at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), who later also helped to identify the HIV virus and who has led UNAIDS for more than 10 years as Executive Director in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
