Condoms for America

Why? Well the newest statistics about new HIV/AIDS infections in the US are alarming! After decades of prevention work it seems that awareness of HIV/AIDS hasn't established desirable results among the younger generation. Otherwise it is hardly explainable why nowadays 25% of the newly infected people are between 13 and 24 years old and why 60% of the infected youngsters don't even know they are infected with the HIV virus. HIV is not curable, but the sooner you know your status, the higher the chance of living a good life, even with HIV. Not knowing your status means no therapy, a higher chance to develop full blown AIDS and no medication.
Other heavily affected groups are the male gay community and minorities like Hispanics and African Americans, especially in urban areas like NYC, Miami, New Orleans and Washington. Thankfully President Obama recognised this huge problem and initiated the National AIDS Strategy. We wish him the best to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS!
