How would you react if you would see the word AIDS in a strange context? Let's say on a cartoon figure or a whale? That's what student Wouter's DAA - Media, Art and Design Faculty project is all about: making AIDS popular again. On google that is. Doing research he found out that Justin Bieber has more Google search hits than AIDS. Trying to connect the subject to something out of the ordinary he wants AIDS to become a hot topic on the web again. He's choosing to step away from the traditional method: no boring slogans or ‘funny' campaigns, but generate a ‘What the f*ck?!' reaction by linking AIDS to something absurd. Like a giant whale.. That way he hopes to evoke reactions and questions so that people will look for more information on Google. Because information is one of the most important steps when it comes to safe sex and HIV/AIDS awareness.
