Recently there has been a story making headlines on the internet that the police in Washington DC is targeting sex workers and using their condoms as evidence to support charges of prostitution. An article recently published by the Open Society looked at how this practice is putting sex workers and their customers at risk of HIV. We couldn't agree more: if they are trying to crack down on prostitution, we don't believe this is the right way. We really hope that the powers that be will review this policy and take into consideration the sex workers' ability to protect their health and that of their sexual partners.
