Last weekend was busy, as Indra would say. On Friday Ayke threw a going away party for Elias. It was great, we had a lot of fun and lots of laughs. The morning after, I fell off my bed, in really strange way. I must have dreamt that someone was pulling me, so I pulled back and I ended up doing a flip off my bed. A little bit later that day, my hair dryer fell down from my hands and broke. The good thing that happened on Saturday was that I have ordered camera online and now I can’t wait to have it in my posession. You will see some super- nice pics from me soon on this blog!
On Sunday, me and my sister took a walk around town. We went to the port, known as one of Europe's biggest ports, and visited Het Steen, Antwerp's oldest stone fortress, built after the Viking incursions in the early Middle Ages. Lange Wapper, the annoying Flemish giant, who stands in front of the castle, is a part of local folklore, who was also known to use tricks to approach women in order to steal their breast milk. At the entrance to Het Steen is a statue of Semini, the Scandinavian God of youth and fertility. A historical plaque near Het Steen explains that women of the town appealed to Semini when they wanted children. Inhabitants of Antwerp previously referred to themselves as "children of Semini" so now you can understand this little wordplay in the title.
