Hello DAA-lovers, missed me? I'm back in town after a long and tiring trip to Spain. And to continue my story, I can now officially say that I'm happy and satisfied with the full experience. I came back home totally relaxed. I feel like I got to know myself a bit better and that I am aware of who I am and what I want. And that, dear friends, is a liberating feeling. Oh and I guess it shows... Because everyone I meet these days, keeps telling me that I look energized and happy. Good thing though, because I am.

So how were my last days? I really fell in love with each and every person that participated in the course. You know where normally you pick one person and spend most of your time with them? Didn't happen. I talked to everyone, had discussions on life visions, politics, experiences, ... I learned most through them, I believe. If we go into specifics, the last days were spend on learning coaching techniques: How can you tackle a question or problem with your volunteers? Since I studied Psychology, I was really happy to see this topic come by. I got to practice my counseling skills again, rediscovered how much I love it and how much I love helping people. It did get very emotional at one part where there was an actual counseling conversation with me being the victim... But I learned from it and it seemed that the rest of the group each got their value out of it too.

Of course I can't say that I only focused on learning. The last nights we had some.... Crazy parties to let of a bit of steam. No stress, we had full approval of the organization since one their mottos is that ‘enjoyment should be a big part of the learning process'.

To end with, what is ‘self directed learning' for me? It's wanting to learn, to start within yourself, discover what you want to discover and actually go out and find it.

"Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand"
