The carnival has arrived, and for some people it’s the best period of the year, time to party once more. I can say that because I used to do so when I was still living in Brazil. Last Saturday, “o Galo da madrugada“, the biggest carnival parade in the world took place in Recife, my hometown, gathering around two million people partying on the streets. It’s a beautiful party but you must have a lot of energy to face the crowd, seriously it gets really crowded.
By the way, the Brazilian government launched a great campaign against HIV/Aids and sexual transmitted diseases around this carnival all over the country. With an informative focus, the campaign recalls the advance of the disease among young homosexuals, the target audience of this year’s campaign. For example in Rio de Janeiro three million condoms were given away during the festivities, making them able to party a little bit more safely this year. Certainly it’s a very good way to keep people aware, because you never know what can happen after the party… ;-)
