Earlier this week we posted about the nice visit we had from the condom couture designer and social artist Adriana Bertini. You can read about her visit here.

After her visit we were all very inspired and we decided to get creative with condoms ourselves.

Elias and Matteo teamed up against Branislava and Indra.

Of course the boys decided to make a competition out of it and since they won the last one (while actually we let them win on purpose) they thought that they would win this one too. We got a bit crazy on white T-shirts and you can see the end result on the pictures.

If you look closely, you can see an underlying message in the design of the girls. The idea was to combine objects that belong, conditionally speaking, to the different social spheres- a tie that is seen as public, official and as a symbol of formality and on the other hand a condom, an object considered to be private, intimate, and transparently sexual. Doing that, I think we succeeded in creating a design that joins the private/intimate and the public sphere. That's our small contribution for taking the sexual matter out of the taboo zone.

The design of the boys isn’t that well thought out as ours. They say they were very passionate to make a marvelous design but, as you can see, somewhere along the line something went horribly wrong. They call their design ‘hipster’, so we’ll call it that as well since we don’t really have any other words for it.

I think it’s obvious that we (the girls) won. And honestly, we didn’t expect it to be any other way.
