Moving and powerful. I would use these two words to describe the latest video by ONE.org. Never ever seen so many nice bumps together - I guess they are not fake and anyway, that's not the point. The thing is, these soon-to-be-born babies and their mothers are asking for more real commitment in this hard world and we all can actually do a lot. "One" is an active organization whose goal it is to reduce preventable diseases and global poverty, mostly in Africa (by the way U2's Bono is one of the co-founders). They are striving to do so on various levels, by asking for effective education and debt cancellation, to name but a few issues. And guess what? A good deal of their activities aims at fighting AIDS and they have set themselves a challenging goal: "No child born with HIV by 2015". Think it's impossible? Rethink it. We now have the right treatments to prevent virus transmission from mother to child, but so far governments haven't done their best.
"Okay, I'm no prime minister and feel damned powerless, so what can I do about it?" Don't worry, there's good news coming up! It takes nothing, but it saves lives. This way we can ask our leaders to take important steps and I think it's already working: President Obama has just pledged 4 billions dollars to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
