Back in 1985, the UN declared December 5th as International Volunteer Day. Since then, the day is celebrated worldwide to thank long time volunteers and to encourage new volunteering, an experience that many describe as life changing... This year's slogan is "Make change happen, volunteer!". In the words of the much revered Mahatma Gandhi :"Be the change you want to see in the world".
Personally I also believe that volunteering is a great way to get rid of any frustrations and injustices that you may experience, by doing something positive such as helping others. One way to do that is volunteering, it does not have to be on a global or national level, starting within your local community or even family or friends, can be rewarding too.

Of course you also know that DAA is always looking for volunteers for their workshops iwhere they work on cool ways to raise awareness among young people about important social issues. If you want to join us in 2015, please click the volunteer button on our homepage. And join me today in congratulating all those millions of volunteers who have in their many ways contributed to making the world a better place. Hip hip Hooray!
