My name is Branislava, I come from Belgrade, Serbia J, where I finished social and cultural anthropology. I had a sense that volunteering at DAA would be a great experience for me and now, after meeting all these people here, I see that my forecasts came true. At the Central Station Peke welcomed me with a story of a giant that cuts off people’s hands… Of course, he was talking about the legend from which the city got it’s name. Maybe I will write on this blog about that legend one day, since it is very interesting and probably related with ancient ritual practice in Europe.
Then I met Nikola, Ayke, Elias, Ninette -and the four cats! Their openness and cosiness made me feel a lot more comfortable and took away the anxiety about my future work here on the many projects to come. My happiness grew larger when I entered my new, spacious room covered with post-its to introduce me to the habits here – Thanks to my sweet and considerate roomie Nikola!
When I woke up and looked through the window, it was cloudy outside, but sunny in my heart. That’s how it will be for the rest of my time here, I just know it!
