This summer, from July 31 ^{until August 11},  Antwerp is going to be the venue for the 2013 World Out Games. Not to be confused with the Gay Games, the Outgames are a sporting and cultural event hosted by the gay community, where athletes of any sexual orientation can take part.

Can you imagine an event of this kind, in Antwerp, without the participation of Designers Against AIDS? Obviously you can't. We're going to be present with our own stand in the Rainbow Village of the games, from the beginning until the end of the event.

This event is also extremely important in the promotion of human rights regarding LGBT issues – many athletes will also come from countries with alarming levels of discrimination – and during the first two days of the games, the conference “From Safe Harbours To Equality” will be held.  DAA will also be part of this event and I am so excited, I am looking forward to go! Within the big group of speakers and guests, there will be Jón Gnarr, the mayor of Reykjavik, who I already talked about in this entry. To give you a just brief impression of Gnarr's personality, I will quote what he posted on its Facebook page on June 12, addressing the Duma and talking about the spreading of legalized homophobia in Russia: “If you don't like gay people you must really hate straight people - because they make them. Dear Duma. Your religion is more dangerous than homosexuality. Gays are fun. You and your church are just scary.” Amen to that, Jón!

This conference is gonna be fun!
