I cry every time I see this movie… It is one of my favorites. For you guys who don’t know it, Rent is the name and it is based on a Broadway musical. It tells the story about a year in the life of friends that live a bohemian lifestyle. How is this relevant to DAA, you ask? In the movie you meet Angel, she’s a transvestite with a gentle heart, but damn, is she sassy! To give you the best idea, she gets picked on by a skinhead and her reaction? ‘I’m more of a man then you’ll ever be and more of a woman you’ll ever meet’... Well, she, amongst others in the movie, is HIV positive and loses the hard fight in the end. The clip that is shown, is a meeting where HIV positive people come together and every time I watch this, I feel a shiver running over my spine. I remember how important it is to protect yourself from this illness, as should you guys! (And you should really watch the movie) “There’s only now, there’s only this, forget regret or life is yours to miss…” Use a condom NOW.( Okay, maybe not now exactly… But at least when you have sex!)
