So spiting when you talk can get you arrested in the U.S.!? If you're HIV+ and happen to be in Texas, you can. It's unbelievable, but that's what I learned today while I was on the AVERT website (http://www.avert.org) looking up news and information on HIV/AIDS.
(By the way, AVERT is an international HIV and AIDS charity organization working to prevent HIV and AIDS through education,
treatment and care) 
Apparently, the state of Texas considers the saliva of a HIV-positive person as a "deadly weapon"...which means that if you're infected and accidently (or intentionally?) spit on (or make out with?) someone, you could be sent to prison... It's crazy but I'm not very surprised since Texas is one of the most conservative (if not the most conservative?) states in the U.S. 
So, just to clarify: Yes, there is a small chance that you get infected from the saliva - but ONLY if you drink like liter of it. And I don't know about you, but I don't usually drink a liter of saliva!
